Three Alcorn State University football standouts took SWAC player of the week honors following the Braves thrilling 45-41 win over Prairie View A&M.
Among those was former Louisville High School standout Corey McCullough was took special team honors for knocking down a 33-yard field goal, covering all six of his extra point attempts, while also keep PV pinned down with his punts and kickoffs.
ASU quarterback Felix Harper tossed three touchdown passes and passed for 260 yards to take Offensive honors, while linebacker Solomon Muhammad college Defensive honors with an amazing 18 tackles.

EMCC TAKES WIN OVER MISS. DELTA
Despite a sluggish start with turnovers in their first two offensive possessions, the fifth-ranked Lions of East Mississippi Community College claimed a 41-23 road victory over Mississippi Delta Community College during last Thursday’s MACJC North Division football action played at Jim Randall Stadium.
EMCC generated 538 yards of total offense with 321 coming through the air and 217 via the ground. Conner Neville, a Washington State University transfer, completed 27-of-41 passes for 309 yards and a touchdown. Eight different Lion receivers caught passes in the game with sophomores Austin Morphis (8 catches for 79 yards), Jason Brownlee (7-93) and Pervis Frazier (6-85) leading the way.
Coach Buddy Stephens’ 3-1 East Mississippi Lions (2-0 in MACJC North play) reach the midpoint of the regular-season slate by beginning a two-game home stand with Thursday’s (Sept. 26) interdivisional contest against MACJC South Division foe East Central Community College. Kickoff for the EMCC-ECCC gridiron battle is slated for 7 p.m. at Sullivan-Windham Field on the Scooba campus.

MSU’S SHRADER CHOSEN BY SEC
Mississippi State University quarterback Garrett Shrader was took SEC Freshman of the Week honors after passing for 305 yards and rushing for 125 more in the Bulldogs 28-13 SEC win over visiting Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.
The Charlotte, N.C. native — starting in place of injured senior Tommy Stevens — hit on 17-of22 passes. The Bulldogs are set to visit Auburn at 6 p.m. on Saturday night.

SEC TELEVISION SCHEDULE
Ole Miss finds itself in the featured Southeastern Conference Football game on CBS at 2:30 p.m. as the Rebels travel across the state line to take on No. 2 ranked Alabama. Ole Miss is 1-0 in league play, thanks to a win over Arkansas and 2-2 overall, while the Crimson Tide is 1-0 with a win over South Carolina and 4-0 overall. Alabama has given up just 43 points so far this season.
Other televised SEC games this week in chronological order are: Texas @&M and Arkansas at 11 a.m. in Arlington, Texas on ESPN; Northern Illinois at Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. on the SEC Network, Towson State at Florida at 3 p.m. on the SEC Network; Mississippi State at No. 7 ranked Auburn at 6 p.m. on ESPN; and Kentucky at South Carolina at 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.

HOLMES TAKES NORTH DIVISION WIN
The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up a key North Division win here Thursday night defeating the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers, 14-6.

The Governors of Austin Peay, coached by Winston County native Mark Hudspeth, are set to begin Ohio Valley Conference play on Saturday when they pay a visit to Jacksonville (Ala.) State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Govs enter the contest with an overall record of 2-2 in Hudspeth’s first season. Austin Peay has wins over North Carolina Central (41-10) and Mercer (48-34) and losses to Central Arkansas (24-16), and East Tennessee State University (20-14).
