Choctaw County has begun the interview process for a head football coach, and athletic director Jim Wood said the school hopes to have a coach in place soon.
“We have had some good applicants. It's going to be a tough decision,” Wood said.
Wood and CCHS principal Amber Vowell will present a nomination to school superintendent Glenn
Beard, who will then make a recommendation to the county school board.
Choctaw County is seeking a replacement for Ben Ashley, who resigned after two years and an 18-7 record that included a Region 4-3A championship in 2017.
The position was posted on the Mississippi High School Activities Association website inviting applicants to submit a resume and teaching certificate.
The next scheduled school board meeting is May 6, but a special meet could be called if there is a nomination before then.
