SARDIS – Choctaw County finished second at the Class II, Region 2 golf match and qualified for the 3A state match for the fifth consecutive year. The Chargers finished with a 363 team score, 14 strokes higher than Water Valley.
Preston Payne led the Chargers with 82. That tied him for the lowest round in the tournament, but he took second after a one hole playoff.
Other team scores were 90 by Connor Jewel, 95 by Brian Threadgill, 96 by Spencer Power and 104 by Kole Vowell.
The state match is scheduled for May 6 and 7 at Hillendale Country Club in Corinth.
