Two key members of Choctaw County High School's Region 4-3A championship team will continue playing football at the next level. Amerious Brown signed with Holmes Community College and Adam Threadgill with Millsaps on National Signing Day last Wednesday.
“I'm really proud of them,” said coach Ben Ashley. “It's a really good opportunity when you get to pursue a college diploma and play football.”
Brown was the offensive leader for the Chargers with 118 carries for 1,135 yards (9.6 average) and 15 touchdowns. “I feel like it's a good fit for me,” he said of the decision to attend Holmes.
Threadgill was a defensive standout at linebacker with 109 tackles, including 13 for losses. His 69 solo tackles tied for the team lead.
Threadgill chose Millsaps, a small Division III school in Jackson, for the academics, noting the student to faculty ratio of 13 to 1. “You're able to get close to your professors.”
The Chargers were 5-0 in the region,10-3 overall, and reached the third round of the MHSAA playoffs.
