Both track and field teams from Louisville High School turned in top-10 performances last Saturday in the MHSAA Class 4A North State meet at Tishomingo County.
The Lady Wildcats placed sixth with a team total of 44 points, while the Wildcats were 10th overall with a total of 29 team points. More than four dozen schools were represented, with Senatobia’s girls (142.5 points) and boys (106 points) both winning North State team titles.
The top four finishers in each event qualified to move on to this weekend’s Class 4A State Track & Field Meet set for Pearl. Louisville will be represented in five events.
Qualifying for the State Meet are:
— Dora Tiana, who captured the North State championship in the girls’ triple jump with a total of 33 feet, 10.5 inches;
— MacKinna Elder, who was third in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.03 seconds;
— Lawilliam Holmes, who was third in the boys’ shot put with a heave of 43 feet, 7 inches;
— The girls’ 4x400m relay team of Tiana, Elder, Timia Dora and Tyjalen Harrison, who were second with a time of 4:21.56; and
— The girls’ 4x200m relay team of Star Latham, EmmaLee Reed, Tylisha Miller and Kaleah Spann, who were fourth with a time of 1:50.84.
Louisville placed in 19 events total.
