The Eupora boys and girls cross country teams both finished fourth at the French Camp Classic, trailing the same three school in each race.
The boys finished with a team score of 121 trailing Saltillo (28), Tupelo Christian (34) and French Camp (91). In the girls race, it was Saltillo with 23, Tupelo Christian 36, French Camp 79 and Eupora 121.
Saltillo is the defending 5A boys and girls champio and Tupelo Christian won both 1A races last year. Eupora’s top boys runner was John Thomas Frank, who covered 5,000 meters in 19:51.0 to finish 23rd. He was followed by Chris Nicholson, 41st in 22:21.74; Anthony Schexnaydre, 42nd in 22:30.74; Walker Mitchell, 46th in 23:26.30 and Woods Mitchell 58th in 25:26.49. For the girls, Lillian Winter was 40th with a time of 26:37.78. Macie Manasco finished 45th in 27:15.11, Estra Herard 51st in 28:45.64, Lucy Tulipan 54th in 29:54.02 and Katrelya Pratt 56th in 30:33.71.
Eupora also had four runners each in the boys and girls two mile middle school races. The top runners were Dylan Coleman for the boys with a time of 15:36.11 and Ava McCain for the girls in 17:10,86. Coleman was 19th and 27th.
With fewer than five runners, Eupora was not able to compete as a team in the middle school races. The 2A state meet will be Nov. 2 at Choctaw Trails in Jackson.
