Nanih Waiya made its first trip to Newton in recent memory.

It’s a trip the Warriors would rather forget.

The Warriors fell behind early and as Newton used a big-play offense to take a 36-14 win win the Division 5-2A opener for both teams.

MHSAA makes football schedule changes

The Mississippi High School Activities Association has moved final regular season football games up one day.

For 2A, 3A and 4A teams, including Nanih Waiya, the final game will be Thursday October 28. For 1A, 5A and 6A teams, including Louisville and Noxapater, it will be Thursday November 4.

Noxapater celebrates Homecoming 2021

With Hamilton leading 15-12 at the half, Noxapater coach Roy Rigsby told his team that whoever had the desire to win the game in the second half would get the victory.

The Tigers showed that desire to win and scored 28 unanswered points to pull away and take a 40-22 win over Hamilton.

Winston Academy Patriots drop district opener to Irish

It was a slow start and a fast finish! The WInston Patriots fell behind after the opening St.Joe possession last Friday night and played catchup all night in route to a 42-35 district loss. Greenville St.Joseph Irish, came into the contest as the leader in district play, having defeated all other teams soundly.
