Mistakes hurt French Camp in loss to defending state champs

When you play a quality opponent like two-time defending MHSAA 1A State Champion Nanih Waiya you can't afford mistakes, especially the kind of mistakes made by French Camp Academy on Friday night. The Panthers had two touchdown runs nullified by penalties and two passes dropped in the end zone. The result was a 35-14 loss.

FCA girls win Eagle Claw Invitational cross country meet

A young but very talented French Camp girls cross country team dominated the Eagle Claw Invitational hosted by Eupora High School with six of the top nine runners. Averie Jane Gundy led the way, finishing first among 53 runners in a time of 23:57.68 for 5,000 meters That was 4½ seconds better than runner-up Ella Easterling of South Pontotoc.

Qualifying required for MHSAA state cross country meet

There will be qualifying for the Mississippi High School Activities Association state cross country meet for the first time this year. In past years, there was no qualifying. Teams that wanted to compete just had to show up the day of the race.

GCS Lady Eagles claim own round robin title

The Grace Christian School Lady Eagles had another successful week on the volleyball court, picking up four wins in five matches while winning the GCS Round Robin Invitational on Saturday. This week GCS was set to travel to Amory Christian for a dual match on Thursday, where they will face both the host team and the Oxford Regents.
