On Jan. 10 we read “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow!” at the Maben Public Library.
You won’t believe why she swallowed some snow, a pipe, some coal, a hat, a stick and a scarf! I kept trying to get the kids to figure it out but they didn’t until the end. She swallowed all of that to build a snowman.
The children wanted to build a snowman but we didn’t have any snow. They closed their eyes and thought of cold things and like magic, snow appeared! It was all over the floor so they picked up some snow (tissue paper) and made a snowman.
After that they made one with marshmallows, raisins and M&M’s that they could eat. Then they found one more way to make a snowman, with Play-Doh!
Jan. 17 Storytime
More talk about snow Jan. 17 at the library. We read “Snowmen at Night.” This book is energetic and tells us not only what snowmen do at night but some fun things we can do if we have snow.
They played in the park, played a baseball game with snowballs and a broom, had cold cocoa, had snowmen races, acted like clowns and bumped into each other, went sledding down a steep hill and had a snowball fight!
After we read our story we painted a picture of something in the book. The most I could recognize was a snowman. Then we had warm cocoa with marshmallows and skated with wax paper to Kid’s Party music.
