WRITEON FOR DEC 11

The parade was brill and tomorrow we have the OPEN HOUSE @ the Library. Christmas trees from all over will be there for you to enjoy and to vote for! I know best the tree that our GIRLFRIENDS2019 put on display. We took the notion of some things that happened this year and checked the Scriptures and sure enough, we found that Jesus Himself had that experience. What was it? Well Christmas brings both joy and conflict. If you remember just after Jesus was born Herod the King decided to kill all boys under 2 so that any ‘new king’ would be wiped out. Jesus and His family became refugees to Egypt, about 350 miles from Bethlehem.
Our tree reminds us of all the refugee and immigrant children separated from parents, having to move into another country, and those who died.
There is joy, of course, because so many people have helped the immigrants and refugees to settle in to a new home. There is joy as well because Jesus understands and has had that experience Himself. We also hope it’s a reminder of all the many children and families stranded around the world by circumstances most often way beyond their control. We can donate various things…and of course, we can always pray for peace to come to the most violent regions that the children might grow up without trauma and hatred.
We used MEXICAN YARN PAINTING as our art form on the stars because it reminds us of art brought to us by immigrants and refugees. The little refugee and immigrant children are done with markers on wooden sticks. Each star and child, however, has a tiny touch of bling so that we are also reminded that Jesus is present wherever we are.
We, of course, are only one small tree in the forest you will find at the Open House…there will also be singing and music you won’t want to miss!
OPEN HOUSE @ the library…2:30-6pm THURSDAY Dec 12.
Y’all come!
BLESSINGS.
