WRITEON FOR MARCH 18, 2020
sister alies.
Hope you had a great St. Pat’s Day yesterday and that your pockets are full of green!
Sometimes you just run (back) into someone you haven’t seen for a year or two and it is such a joy. I had that very experience a few weeks ago when CONNIE HOLLAND (pictured here) and I began to catch up.I was so pleased to see that she’d set up digs for her professional therapy office in office space at Broken Wings. The name is beautiful: SEEDS OF HOPE.
Connie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with an MA degree in professional counseling from Liberty University (2014). She works with all ages from 5-up and uses a variety of styles as tools for healing.
Why you might ask ‘Christian’counseling? She tells us: “Typically I use a blend of Christian, Biblically-based, cognitive-behavioral, and rational-emotive therapies to explore the client’s presenting issues and to develop appropriate solution-based goals.” She continues: “Most issues we are dealing with can be helped by God—so we learn spiritual tools that are non-denominational. I just want people to move forward.”
Connie did extensive work at CHRISTIAN CHANGES in Starkville, and stays in touch there with other professionals for support for her ministry. She readily admits ‘she doesn’t know everything!’
“I understand in my own life how difficult things can be. I have 4 children, one in college and 3 in HS, and I am divorced. HOPE is my main focus because it implies future change, healing, and, well, some light at the end of the tunnel. I had to learn to sink into Someone who can help after trying myself to change my circumstances. I found even if things didn’t absolutely change, I could learn to live with God who is there with me IN the difficulty.”
“Though I take a variety of clients, I have a real heart for teens! I still work over at French Camp Academy and love it!”
Connie is a cheerful and bright person who wants to assist those who want to challenge themselves, being willing to learn and grow. She wants to help folks make connections. Some of the areas of concern might be depression, anxiety, grief, attachment, ADHD, marriage/family, abuse, life transitions, bi-polar and PTSD, to name a few.
Anyone with at least 60 days of sobriety is welcome to come for an evaluation. “I do not deal with drug/alcohol issues, because there are places set up for that.”
If you were looking for advice on the COVID19…Connie says this, “Pray for wisdom, gain all the knowledge you can, discover what you need, we are in God’s hands and we can either live in faith or fear. God is not surprised…so trust Him.”
If you are in need of her services, she is @ Broken Wings/Seeds of Hope, 2 days a week. For payment, she goes from pro-bono, to a sliding scale, to self-pay or insurance system (Blue Cross, United Health, and Signa.).
