WRITEON FOR MAR 11, 2020
sister alies.
There are so many things going on at the moment between virus and voting, baseball season openers, basketball madness, people close dying, people far away being persecuted. I can barely watch the news to find out the weather. Right, weather...Tennessee, or heavy snow, or well, rain...we have come to know a lot about rain...almost to the level of building an Ark! I’m not sure if I’m still living in Tacoma or the UK!
Sunshine is so beneficial, however, and even waking up an hour later the sun popped into my room and drew me out of the bed.
There is news, real news, and fake news these days. There are truth and lies, confusion and clarity, and of course, the desire to do the right thing (whatever that is!).
Maybe this week we just need to breathe deeply and consider for ourselves where we fall and see if any of our attitudes need tweaking. We might discover something like this little deMello (1989) story shows us:
“A storekeeper heard one of his salesmen say to a customer, ‘No, ma’am we haven’t had any for some weeks now and it doesn’t look as if we’ll be getting any soon.’
Horrified at what he was hearing, he rushed over to the customer as she was walking out and said, ‘that isn’t true. Of course, we’ll have some soon. In fact, we placed an order for it a couple of weeks ago!’
Then he withdrew the salesman aside and growled, ‘Never, never, never, never say we don’t have something. If we don’t, say we’ve ordered it and it’s on the way. Now what was it she wanted?’
‘Rain,’ said the salesman.”
Never assume you know what the other is talking about. Happy Spring Break!
BESSINGS.
