MACEDONIA: We are having dreary weather these past few days. - Mr. W. A. Garrigus is getting along nicely following surgery at the local hospital. - Mrs. James Lovorn spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stokes.
DEATHS: Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist Church for Mr. J. R. Boyles, 86, who died at his home March 2nd. He had been a citizen of Louisville for 12 years, having moved here from Laurel, and was making his home with his daughter, Miss Maggie Boyles. His good wife passed several years ago. He had been in failing health for some years and had suffered a heart attack Saturday, and could not survive. He is survived by five sons and four daughters. - Funeral services were held at the Noxapater Baptist Church for Mrs. Birdie Suttle Johnson, widow of Mr. E. L. Johnson, Tuesday afternoon. She died Monday at Harrison Hospital in Philadelphia, where she was fighting the flu, which developed into pneumonia. She is survived by a sister and brother, five step-sisters and a step-brother. Interment was in the church cemetery.
LOUISVILLE: Mrs. Jack Harlan is in Rush Infirmary where she has undergone a major surgery. - Mrs. C. C. McNeel, Mrs. Jeffie Majure, and daughter Betty spent Sunday in Philadelphia visiting their sister, Mrs. J. B. King. - Miss Elizabeth Wood of Memphis spent the last week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood. - Mr. and Mrs. Edd Easterwood announce the birth of a daughter on February 27. She has been named Gloria Gene. - Pvt. James Livingston of Camp Shelby was called home this week by the illness of his father, George Livingston. - Mrs. Mary McCullough is serious ill, and is at the home of her son, Boyd McCullough. - Robert L. Metts is seriously ill at his home on Metts Street. - We welcome Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Myers, their daughter and two sons, formerly of Noxapater, as new residents of our city, having purchased a home on South Church. Father and sons have positions at the G. M. & O. shops. - Lt. and Mrs. John McCully and son William of Waco, Texas, Miss Nannie Lou McCully of Jackson, and Miss Christine McCully of Blue Mountain are spending the week end here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McCully.
WEDDINGS: Mr. and Mrs. Boyd McCullough received a letter saying their son, Sgt. Joe McCullough of Gulfport married to Miss Lucile Ladner of Gulfport. - Miss Pinkie Pearson announces the marriage of her daughter Mattie Elma to Oscar Lee Wyatt of Anniston, Ala. Rev. Ward officiated the single ring ceremony February 22. While her husband is away with the U. S. Navy, Mrs. Wyatt will make her home with her mother. - Miss Mary Helen Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Walker of Louisville, and Mr. Thad C. Barrier of Louisville, son of Mrs. Kate Barrier and the late Mr. Barrier of Philadelphia, were married February 28 at the home of the bride’s parents. Rev. W. L. Day of the Baptist Church officiated the single ring ceremony. - Mrs. Wyatt Thornton Shelton announces the marriage of her daughter Eloise to Mr. Robert Larkin Wood on February 25th in Mansfield, La.
NOXAPATER: S/Sgt. J. D. Hill of Maxwell Field, Ala. visited his sister, Mrs. Jessie White last Sunday. - Mrs. C. W. Myatt who had been under treatment at the Philadelphia hospital has returned home. - Mrs. N. W. Webb is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Woodruff at Rocky Hill. - Webb Boswell who had volunteered some time ago for the U. S. Navy, was called to report to New Orleans Tuesday. He was accompanied to Meridian. by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Boswell, Miss Johnnie Boswell, and Mrs. William Bennett.
