It was a rainy day for storytime Friday at the Maben Public Library. We read "The Penguin Who Wanted to Fly."
He was a creative penguin whose name was Flip Flop. He wanted to fly so he thought of lots of ways to help him fly.
He climbed on a rock and flapped his wings, he dreamed he was flying at night with the stars, he made wings out of leaves, he used a helicopter cap and spun around and around, he built an airplane out of snow but it melted, and he tied a balloon and actually floated but then it popped.
His friend polar bear pushed him down a slide made of ice and he slid into the sea. He decided that he liked it down there. It was peaceful, and there were lots of fish to swim with and he could swim quite beautifully!
The children made a penguin puppet, skated with wax paper, and played with balloons and Play-Doh.
