I trust everyone had a wonderful week. It sure was a lot cooler and I’m so thankful for it. I’m also thankful for the little bit of rain we have received, which revived the grass a little and made the yards look a bit better.
I hope everyone is prepared for winter, because it appears we may be going straight from summer into winter. For those of you who do not know, I also work for MDOT during the week and this nice weather sure has been a blessing after bush hogging in heat the past few weeks.
I would like to give a special thank you to Bro. Jamie Brown, who did an excellent job substitute teaching for us last week. He did a mighty fine job.
As usual, this week Bro. Mason brought a great lesson to encourage and equip the body of Christ. Also, last week Ms. Eva Mae surprised and blessed us as she played, quite wonderfully, hymns for the choir.
This weeks message came from Matthew 5:13 (KJV) — “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
My friends, we must embrace the covenant of salt with God. This is Christ’s objective for the church — to be salt and light in a lost and dying world. If we the church have lost our saltiness wherewith shall the earth be salted?
The Scripture says without righteousness and holiness no man shall see God. It is henceforth pertinent that we strive for perfection, crucify the flesh so that the Spirit of God may that much more abound in us. Therefore becoming the viable source of salt to the world.
In 2 Kings we read where a body a water was causing death and destruction, yet the prophet Elijah called for a new vessel with salt in it. He took it to the tainted waters and while disbursing the salt into the sea he said, “Thus saith the Lord, let the waters be healed.”
They were healed instantly and life began to prosper. Therefore my friends, we are the salt of the earth and if we don’t share the salt how shall it prosper?
God bless you all. Have a blessed week until next time. Sincerely, Pastor Michael
