I trust everyone had a great week. This weekend was my wonderful wife’s birthday so we enjoyed going out and spending time with family.
Oh, no, I can’t tell you how old she is. I was always told two things you never ask a woman – her age or weight. So the only thing I can say is she is older than me. You can figure that one out.
It was such a wonderful blessed and highly favored Sunday. It was the second Sunday so we also had Sunday night service as well.
As a pastor I was just so excited to have everyone that came out. It was just a great time of worship, especially since Mrs. Avent, our choir leader, was able to be in service with us. That was such a blessing. She just inspired us again and got us all fired up. Seemed like God himself came down and filled the sanctuary with his marvelous presence.
Brother James and Brother Brown sang two amazing selections as well Sunday night that just seemed to be electrifying. Wow, what a blessing. The worship was just off the chain this weekend.
The messages were based on preparation. God is about to pour out his abundant blessings, but we must seek the Lord. In Genesis 32, God had already been changing Jacob’s life since his evilness. God had been blessing and changing him all along the way. But, just before meeting with his twin brother, he was left all alone.
There, toiling within himself, needing forgiveness and longing to restore his relationship with his brother after 20 years not knowing what to expect, he lifted his eyes up seeing Esau coming afar off with 400 men.
Jacob had an encounter with God that transformed him into the man God was calling him to be. God changed him into Israel.
This transformation caused him to be the true descendant of Abraham, in that through his wrestling with God he would not let go until the Lord had blessed him and healed his inner being.
Touched him so that he not only came out a new man, but a true man of God. God changed his name to Israel. There started the legacy of the children of God.
Now he came out with a limp after that experience, as a reminder that he would never forget the awesome encounter with God, in how God changed him, saved him and blessed him. He would never be the same again. We must long for his presence, and as we seek him God will add his abundant blessings.
Have a blessed week; see you Sunday. We invite anyone who like to joins us to come on out and worship with us. God is great and greatly to be praised. Until next week, God bless you all in Jesus’ name.
