Good morning; hope all is well with everyone. What a week as pastor, dad, grandpa, son-in-law, Christian and worker for MDOT!
Needless to say my week was very busy going to work, then taking care of sick family members, going to doctors’ appointments, plus my own for being somewhat under the weather myself. I am feeling much better after two shots, antibiotics and cough syrup. Things are starting to get back somewhat normal. Thank you Lord!
It was a wonderful Sunday. Brother Mason taught a great lesson on “The Son’s Prayer to the Father.” This is where Jesus prayed to the Father for strength and reassurance, while he also prayed for his disciples, followers and the world.
Jesus loves us more than we can imagine. May I remind you that in Luke 22:32 Jesus prayed that our faith fail not! The Son of God is on our side. He is fighting for us; we must trust in him.
Meanwhile, a great congregation helped sing and lead us in our worship Sunday, creating a quite beautiful sound.
We sure do miss our beautiful sweet choir leader, Mrs. Leneze Avent, who we know is doing a great job taking care of our surely missed helper in church as well, Mr. T.J Avent, who has been very sick, and unfortunately has not been well enough to attend in quite a while. Please continue to keep them in your prayers, as it’s always hard to be away from your home.
Also continue to remember the Avent family and the Shurden family at the loss of Pastor/Man of God Joe Shurden, who passed away last week. They will need your prayers during this time. It is always hard to lose a loved one, especially when they’re a dad, husband, grandpa and pastor! May the Lord overshadow them all during this time.
Meanwhile, we had a great message from the Lord. James 2 teaches us that faith without works is dead. Church. we must be ready to meet Jesus, working until he comes.
What? Yes, that means living right, striving for perfection and crucifying the flesh daily as the Apostle Paul said. If we plan on making it to be with Jesus we must have a growing, obeying relationship with Christ the Lord.
Food for thought: if the world is just over 6,000 years old and after 2,000 years the flood came and the only righteous man, Noah, was saved along with his family, then 2,000 years later God sends Jesus, who bridges the gap between God and man. This perfect plan brings redemption through repentance, brings a gift of eternal promise of life entailed with Christ.
Now I know no man knows the day or hour in which Christ will come, but we shall know the season. Jesus was dead three days, then rose again. It is now a little more than 2,000 years since Christ came, so we’re past the second day. The third day is just around the corner. Jesus is coming! He is coming soon; be ready!
Until next week God bless. Also keep my sweet, beautiful wife and my mother-in-law in your prayers. My wife has been really sick this entire week and my mother-in-law has been very sick for the past few weeks.
Have a great very happy Thanksgiving!
