Hope everyone had a great week. We had some bad weather, but as far as I know everyone was safe, so a little cleanup wasn’t so bad. I thank God for his protection.
We want to extend an invitation to all who would like to attend, and remind our locals that we will be having a special guest speaker Nov. 17 for our morning service, which starts at 10:45 a.m.
The guest speaker will be missionary and teacher Chris Blair Morgan. He is a native of Yalobusha County here in Mississippi. The Lord called him to mission work abroad; he answered and has followed that calling.
Chris has a master’s degree in education and has served as teacher, principal and headmaster since the ’70s. He served as professor of English at University of Sahmyook in Seoul, South Korea, and as missionary teacher there for close to a decade.
While headmaster at the South Korean Advanced Preparatory Academy he taught English and Bible to young Korean students who planned to attend universities in America. Mr. Morgan also taught as an English teacher and served as a principal in Michigan around 10 years.
His mission work reached from South Korea into Cambodia, where he informally adopted a family of several children, two of whom he has provided tuition for and assisted through college. Both have graduated college, one as a pastor and the other as a nurse.
The eldest son now serves as Christian pastor in Cambodia — a country 90% Buddhist and 3% Christian. The second son recently graduated as a nurse and will be serving in his village there in Cambodia. Plans are in place to build a healthy living center there in Cambodia, where current life expectancy is only 50 years. The healthy living center will provide a holistic approach to nutrition, health and wellness.
We encourage everyone to come out and be in service with us Nov. 17 at 10:45 a.m. to hear him speak.
We had a great Sunday school lesson delivered by Brother Mason — a great teacher. Then we moved into our worship service, where it felt like every song and every verse just seemed to allow the water of God’s presence to flood the sanctuary! Then Brother Brown topped it off with a wonderful selection by Dottie Rambo, which caused me to be so blessed as I entered the pulpit, the Lord God just took over.
The message came from 1 Kings, where I shared some scriptures from chapters 1, 2, 3 and 4, where Solomon was anointed king.
God came to Solomon in a dream and asked him what did he want. He asked for wisdom. Because he asked for himself such a non-selfish thing out of humbleness, respect and honor, God therefore gave him honor and riches, and if he continued to follow God’s commands, God would also reward him with long life.
My friends, God is faithful for those who strive to serve him. Ask for good things such as wisdom when you pray. For God answers prayers and we truly need God’s wisdom to guide us. His word says his word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, for our steps are ordered of the Lord. Remember, God gives grace to the humble.
Remember to pray for T.J Avant and family. Also pray for T.J.’s son Lacy and sister Irene, and for her husband, who is also sick. They need our prayers.
Also remember to pray for Brenda Mason and Karen Griffin’s dad, and Eva’s household. We must also pray for our leaders, our community and country. God bless you all. Hope to see you all next week.
