Nov. 18-Dec. 1
Well this week they started us out with a new game. It’s called the Elevens game. I think Leslie made up the rules as we went along. We really enjoyed it and had a great time. It’s good to just get around a table with friends and play some good honest games.
Later that day was Penny Auction; everyone comes to that to see what they can buy. Remember, we only have 15 coins each so you can bid however you like. If you want something really bad just say “all in“ and you got the prize but you also went bankrupt.
If you would like to donate something for our penny auction, just call the Leslies. Men’s caps, coloring books, word search books, decorative items (non-glass) and any other thing you may like), maybe even that old wedding ring your not using anymore — just kidding. Come by to even watch sometimes; it’s really fun and entertaining!
We had lots of singings throughout the week and of course bingo! The weekend came and boy was it cold outside. Sunday we had the new preacher from the Church of Christ and his wife. I asked her if she could play the piano and she said a little. I told her that was all we needed around here; it don’t take much to please us.
On a side note:
I came home one day and my wife asked me where I had been. I said after work I decided I needed a couple days off. She asked me how I would like it if she left for two days. I said, “Fine with me.” The next day I didn’t see her, the second day I didn’t see her and the third day she was just a blur ... The swelling had went down so I could barely see her.
The next week we started out Art for Others. We are now coloring for the residents that are in their rooms so we can give to them during visits. Some do really well, One is Johnny Vaughn. He does a lot for us around here.
Our Thanksgiving Celebration was very good, good food and good fellowship. We were missing a lot because many went out with their families. We went around and talked about what all we are thankful for. We hope everyone had a very blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
We had a good surprise at the end of the week. Toad Donahoo and his gang came in to see us and played some good ole music. It’s always a fun time with lots of dancing and fun; even the staff joined in. During the weekend we had some visitors. Some were new; it’s good to see new faces in and out.
We thank all our volunteers, family visitors and staff!
