July 3-16
Wednesday morning starts out with coffee and doughnuts and the community news. We love this day. Let me tell you those doughnuts from Sugarland Donuts are GREAT and so fresh!
Today is when we get informed of the community and world news. We’re thankful they keep us up to speed on things going on; we need to know. That afternoon was a full room for our bingo. You would have thought they were giving away fresh apple pies!
At 4 p.m. Mathiston First Baptist comes in to do prayer meeting. Ma Anne always gives a great devotion. Linda Pinkington was here to help. She has been married for 47 years and has two girls and three grandsons. The other is Willette Stidham; she was telling us about her mission trip. I was so interested in the mission trip details I forgot to ask her how many years she had been married and how many kids she had. I’m not much of a reporter. Ha-ha.
Later we celebrated the Fourth of July with homemade ice cream on the porch! Don’t know if Leslie twisted her husband Eric’s ear to make it or if he just wanted to. Honestly I think he does it out of the goodness of his heart!
Friday nails and hair for the ladies. Friday night I got to go to the Sparta Opry. I enjoyed the music and the company. On Saturday we got a surprise — Four Hearts from Winona came in to sing to us. So many were in the room we had to line it down the hallway. You could still hear them though. They were really good.
Monday Ruth Alldread and I sang a few after sharing the Word. Wow she has a voice!
On a side note, in our dining room we have some good helpers. Mrs. Lee and Ms. Willis, also Mrs. McMullen, who always plays us some good music. Then there is Ms. Gray, whose smile is great. All four do a great job. Thank you
The second week I didn’t get to write too much because I was a little under the weather. I couldn’t even call bingo. But the Leslies stepped in. Being sick does have its perks at times. These nurses really checked on me. Jennifer Holsdorf and Nancy Pruitt are two of them. Really good nurses and attentive, I thank them. I probably run them like crazy but they never complained. You would think I was a baby chick the way they fawned over me.
Most all the CNAs would stop and check on me and ask how I was doing; some of the other residents did too. I would like to thank all. I’m sure I left someone out but I thank you all.
I did make it for the weekend. Sunday School brought over 20! Lollars Grove came in and gave us a great harmony show. They have a great singing.
