Ackerman Discount Drugs will host author Whitney White on March 2.
White is the author of Don't Swallow the Baby Jesus, Kids are Like Christmas Trees, and Who Left Jesus in the Box? She is a full-time mom and home school teacher for her four lively, God-fearing, outdoor-loving boys. White holds a degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University.
Book 1: The Covenant Creek Kids: The Mystery of Granddady Meek is published by American Family Association in Tupelo, MS. It will be a historical series for children. White’s grandparents, Bobbie and A.D. Jenkins, were from Chester, Mississippi and the setting in the book is based after Chester, as well as some of the characters.
Instead of staying home or going to summer camp like their friends, Brennan and Addison are spending part of their summer vacation with their great-grandparents, Mama D and Granddaddy Meek, but they have a feeling Granddaddy Meek doesn't want them around.
In spite of his brusque demeanor, when Granddaddy Meek catches them rummaging around an old chest hidden away in the closet, he begins to share with them why he loves America so much. In the process, they find a new love for a real American hero.
“The main character, Granddaddy Meek, is a beautiful blend of three of my heroes. My own grandfather, Delayon Jenkins, who was a World War II veteran; my adopted Granddaddy Meek who patiently took the time to teach; and Dr. Buford Usry, who is an Iwo Jima survivor that I had the privilege of interviewing.” stated White.
