The Anchor Club of Winston County is a community service youth organization for students in grades 10-12.
Anchor Club was founded on the principle of "friendship and service" and the Pilot Club of Louisville and Pilot International are pleased to sponsor the Anchor Club of Winston County.
Anchor projects increase the awareness of and help those affected by brain- related disorders. Anchors spend many hours volunteering their time in order to work with individuals with brain related disorders. the anchor club hosts holiday parties for the residents at the Hudspeth Home in Louisville and a Valentine party at the Beehive Home of Louisville.
This year the anchors made personal lap quilts for residents of the local nursing homes. The anchors also packed pick-me-ups for the caregivers of Winston Medical Center senior care services, the special education department of the Louisville Municipal School District, and for our local law enforcement and first responders.
Officers of the Anchor Club for the 2018-2019 club year are Fantasia Carter, president; Morgan Duran, president elect; Aly Clark, secretary; Mary Grace Mills, treasurer; and directors: Addy Webb, Noxapater High School; Braeden Nabers, Grace Christian School; Glory Richardson, Winston Academy; Madison Alford, Nanih Waiya; Dejana Prince, Louisville High School. Anchor sponsors are Pilot members, Heather Thompson, Crystal Clark and Beverly Wilkes.
Several of the Anchors will be attending Anchor International Summit in July. This years summit will be held in Chicago, Illinois. They will use their leadership skills, and learn about various organizations and service projects that can benefit the anchor organizations and will have the opportunity to network with anchors from other states of the United States, South Africa, Japan and the Bahamas.
