Groundhog Day was Sunday. That’s when we were to know if spring is coming or if we will have six more weeks of winter.
Our story Friday at the Maben Public Library was “Groundhog Day” by Betsy Lewin.
We all learned from Phil the Groundhog that if it’s cloudy, Phil won’t see his shadow and that means spring is coming soon, so that’s what everyone hopes for. If it’s sunny he will see his shadow and he will go back inside his burrow and there will be six more weeks of winter.
So Phil heard a click and saw a light flash from a camera. Is Phil afraid of his shadow or does he really predict the weather. We will see.
The children colored groundhogs, which are also called woodchucks, and put them in a cup where he could pop up and down to see his shadow or not see his shadow. Then Play-Doh is always fun.
