The Town & Country Garden Club met for its last meeting before summer break on May 19, 2022. Hostesses for the meeting were Noneine Keene and Sandra Culwell. Peggy Snow gave the inspiration titled ‘Whatever It Takes”. Being gardeners, members could relate to the point made in this inspiring piece. It’s sometimes hard to prune beautiful limbs from a plant or tree, but the outcome that it produces brings greater harvest and beauty. God prunes away things in our lives to make us better for His service.
Thirteen members enjoyed a pot luck luncheon. Noneine was responsible for the flower design for the meeting. She had placed a variety of mixed flower vases all through her home. President Diane Dempsey called the meeting to order. She went over with the members that were assigned to different task for the Southern Pines District Workshop that our club was hosting on May 23, 2022. With no other business, the meeting was adjourned and the members proceeded to the patio for the annual plant exchange. There was an array of different plants that were exchange. It seemed the members have been busy experiencing new varieties of plants because there were a host of new plants to exchange. Each member told about their plant and how to care for it. One interesting thing that Sandy Wiggins told about a Sum and Substance hosta was; the first year it sleeps, the second year it creeps, and the third year it leaps.
After all plants were exchanged members said their goodbyes and departed until the new club year which begins in September.
