In 2023, Phillip and Charlotte Miller established a local scholarship to assist students from this area to attend Jackson State University. Cameron Smith, a 2024 honor graduate of Kosciusko High School, was awarded the first scholarship in May. He plans to attend Jackson State University in the fall.
While in high school, Cameron served as the secretary of the Student Council, member of the Beta Club, the Mayor’s Youth Council and the Big Red Band Drumline. He was chosen as Mr. Debonair for Rho Nu Zeta Chapter (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.), the Youth of the Year for the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club and the State of Mississippi Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year. Cameron is the son of George and Dorothy Smith of Kosciusko. He is a member of Pleasant Hill M. B. Church, Kosciusko.
