Six people were killed in a two-car crash on Highway 14 East in Louisville Thursday night.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Derrick Beckom said troopers responded to the wreck at 10:27 p.m. Sara L. Batchelor, 25, of Sebastopol was traveling east in a 2013 Kia Rio on Highway 14 near BoBo Ming Road when she collided with Laqerious R. Brown, 22, of Macon, who was traveling west in a 2013 Nissan Maxima.
It is believed that Batchelor was passing another vehicle when the accident occurred. Both Batchelor and Brown, along with three of Batchelor’s children, Cynthia Jean Moorehead, 6, Huntleigh Robert Mills, 3, and Karli Amelia Mills, 16 months and a 16-year old all died in the crash.
Beckom said that all were pronounced dead at the scene.
Along with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Winston County Sheriff’s Department, the East Winston Volunteer Fire Department, and the Louisville Fire Department responded to the scene.
Louisville Fire Chief Robert Hutto posted this on his Facebook page, right after responding, “If you would, say a quick prayer for lost loved ones, say a prayer for all that responded tonight and take a moment to hug your babies and family.”
The East Winston Volunteer Fire Department held a candlelight vigil in honor of Batchelor, her children, and the men and women who responded to the wreck on Monday at Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.
There is a GoFundMe set up for Cynthia Jean “CJ” Moorehead, 6, by Kim Kiddy and another GoFundMe set up for Batchelor and her children by Batchelor’s sister, Amber Pinter. Those wanting to donate can do so directly to Porter Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Batchelor and her three children were held on Tuesday, August 6 at 10 a.m. at Porter Funeral Home. Their burials were held in Damascus Cemetery in Sebastopol.
Beckom said the crash is still under investigation.
