During the month of February, the Eiland Middle School Parent Teacher Association held a “Pie in the Face” contest as a fundraiser for the organization. Teachers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade good-naturedly participated in the contest. Students placed money in a jar with their favorite teacher’s name. The “winner” would then be pied on Friday, March 10.
The contest winners were presented to EMS students during the intermission of a students vs. teachers basketball game. In the 6th grade, Mrs. Brooklyn Welch was the winner. Mrs. Valeria Prisock won the honors for 7th grade, and Mrs. Cylesha Hopkins was the 8th grade winner. Student volunteers were allowed to pie their teachers.
EMS is excited about the new PTA organization and its work at the school. This was the second fundraising event to date, with others planned in the future.
