The Choctaw County School District was named as the top ranking school for the 3rd Grade Reading Assessment for the 2021-2022 school year. These results came in this past week, and Choctaw County 3rd graders held the top spot out of 138 school districts in the state. With 91.4% of all 3rd graders in the school district passing the test, the district surpassed all other school districts in the state and proved our students are “Charging Forward” after years of not tracking scores for the assessments due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our 3rd grade teachers and students went above and beyond to show they are striving to overcome all the barriers which caused delays in learning after the pandemic,” Superintendent Glen Beard stated. “Our district has the capability to perform at a high level when all stakeholders drive instruction. This proves Choctaw County is committed to high standards and will make sure our students are prepared for the future.”
The school district credits the high percentage of passing students to the hard work of each school’s administration, teachers and students. The schools also have a great partnership with parents which supports the efforts of the teachers and students. Each year, the schools prepare for the end of the year assessments by providing high levels of instruction and lots of encouragement. Along with strong parental support, these strategies drive the achievement for each school and the district as a whole.
“Congratulations to Ackerman Elementary, French Camp Elementary and Weir Elementary on this outstanding accomplishment. Keep Charging Forward.”
