Information Technology and Utility Building
CHOCTAW, Miss. – (December 10, 2025) The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for its new Information Technology and Utility Building on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben, members of the Choctaw Tribal Council, 2025-2026 Choctaw Indian Princess Lexi Camille Rodriguez, Tribal administration and MBCI IT/Broadband officials, and project partners gathered to cut the ribbon and celebrate the continuing development of the technology infrastructure on Choctaw Tribal lands.
The new facility is 12,000 sq. feet – 5,000 sq. feet of office space, a 5,000-sq.-foot warehouse, and 2,000 sq. feet of open space under canopy. The office space consists of three offices, a conference room, operations area, engineering/network area, security, staging, and a break room. The MBCI IT Department is moving to this new centralized location which will allow the department to provide all current and expanded capabilities. Plans for expansion include Tribal broadband needs. This building is Phase 1 of two phases. The second is purchasing equipment and the creation of an access road. The IT Department has 19 employees led by MBCI Chief Information Officer Adam Morrison.
“With the increasing need for secure and reliable technology services, this new facility stands as a testament to our dedication to supporting our Tribal government employees and, in the near future, our broadband clients,” said Chief Ben. “I am deeply grateful to the Tribal Council, members of my administration, and our project partners for their dedication and collaboration in greatly enhancing the connectivity and technological capabilities of our Tribe.”
The project’s contractor was IKBI, Inc., with engineering services provided by Willis Engineering, and architectural work completed in-house by MBCI. The funding for the project derived from an $8.43 million Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) grant award from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
