We regretfully announce the passing of Janet Mary Matthews of Macon, Mississippi. Janet was born on July 29, 1948 and passed away on March 26, 2024. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29 at First Pentecostal Church of Noxapater with Rev. Antoine Stokes and Rev. Dwayne Barrett officiating. Visitation was the day of the service from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church in Noxapater. Interment immediately followed the service in Sunrise Cemetery.
Janet was one of a kind. She loved with all she had. She loved to play canasta and spend time with her family. Our family was blessed to have her as our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband: Henry Matthews Sr.; her sisters; Julia, Joyce, Vernita, and Maxine; her brothers, Steve and Larry; and her granddaughter, Staci Echols. Janet is survived by her sister Loyce; her children, Peggy Hollingsworth (David) of Morton, Mississippi; Linda Goodin (Tracy) of Keysville, Virginia; Connie Bono (Tony) of Springfield, Louisiana; Ralph Mathews (Terrie) of Sulphur, Louisiana; Kevin Mathews and Poncho Mathews both of Macon, Mississippi; her grandchildren: April Sills (Roy), Joseph Hillhouse (Amber), Lamar Goodin, Samantha Goodin, Austin Bono, Micaela Bono, Kristen Bono, Ashley Cunningham, Taylor Cormier, and Destiny Ortego; her great-grandchildren; Tyler Smith (McKinley), Colby Smith, Kristina Sills, Alyssa Hillhouse, Ryder Hillhouse, Melody Hillhouse, Eli Williams, Asher Ortego, Blaine Campbell, Wyatt Cunningham; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kasei Kalla.
Serving as pallbearers were Payton Domanick, Tracy Goodin, Colby Smith, Tyler Smith, David Hollingsworth, Roy Sills.
