Funeral services for Billy Wayne "Pete" Thrailkill, of French Camp, were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at French Camp Baptist Church in French Camp, and burial followed in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery near French Camp. Rev. Randy Bridges and Mr. Nathan Wright officiated the services. Pallbearers were Scott Barlow, Rodney Henley, John Thrailkill, Jeff Ward, Billy Ward, and Brandon Busby. Honorary pallbearers were Claude King, W. T. Pollard, Coach John Cockrell, Coach Charles Rich, Coach Pierce McIntosh, Kenneth Thompson, Johnny Anderson, Bobby Henderson, and Bobby Youngblood.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 23 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Billy Wayne "Pete" Thrailkill, 90, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born in French Camp to John James and Iletie Pauline Armstrong Thrailkill on August 6, 1933. He was a retired millwright and an avid sports fan. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in French Camp and a Shriner. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean war and was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church and attended French Camp Baptist Church.
Pete is survived by two daughters, Denise McClurg (Billy Michael) of French Camp and Melinda Hopkins (Kevin) of French Camp; son, Michael Thrailkill (Kimberly) of Collinsville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donnis Jean Keen Thrailkill; wife, Jo Ann Bagwell Thrailkill; grandson, Billy Forrest McClurg; and sister, Katheryn Turner.
