“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
“He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”
— John 6:12-14 (NIV)
God’s timing is perfect. Ours is not.
In order to traverse our spiritual journey safely and receive his blessings in their fullness it is imperative to do two things: trust God’s timing and fully believe He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit.
We must trust God to provide us with the information we need when we are prepared to receive it. God completely understands how we, as humanity as a whole, and you, as a specifically created individual, will react to what he reveals to us. That’s why we must trust his timing.
God will never fail to make information that you need to know available to you at the proper time. If he shares some things with us too soon we may not understand, leading us to act on our own volition. Taking our walk with Jesus one day at a time and one step at a time is the best mode of transportation for our spiritual walk.
God’s timing and understanding are beyond reproach. It’s okay to ask questions, but be willing to receive the knowledge and guidance you need as you need it. As always, trust and faith are important components in our personal relationship with God. Without them we will never reach our potential on Earth.
The Holy Spirit is absolutely a guide Who will lead us deeper into the truths of God, but it is still up to us to desire that depth and then be willing to follow. Insight, discernment, and at times even knowledge of what is to come, is delivered to us through him. When the Holy Spirit speaks it is absolutely and undeniably the voice and words of God.
Some may ask how they can be sure it is the Holy Spirit who is speaking to them. If what is speaking to you DOES NOT glorify Jesus, then it IS NOT the Holy Spirit’s voice. God CANNOT contradict himself. The Holy Spirit can’t and won’t tell you something that is in conflict with the Word of God.
Walk in faith and trust and be eager to respond to God’s call. The rest is up to him.
