“O, give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever (Psalm 107:1).”
But he goes onto to say in Psalm 107, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy?”
Why should the redeemed say so? Because the Lord is good and his mercy endureth forever. Mercy means unmerited favor, which means we don’t deserve it but he gives it to us anyway. Because in verses 4 and 5 it says, “They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
“Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.”
But praise the Lord, the sixth verse says, “Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.”
Verses 7-13 go on to say, “And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”
“Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
“Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
“Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
“Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.”
This precious word is both a warning to those that rebel and sin against God and it’s also the promise of God’s mercy to those than repent and call on God.
Just remember, God loves us very much and the Lord is coming soon. I pray that we all will be ready.
