As many winds down the holiday season and prepare for another year, elected officials and those who want to challenge them in the towns of Ackerman, Weir and French Camp are preparing for another shot or a shot at a four-year term.
And, on April 1, they’re hoping that the residents of Ackerman, Weir, and French Camp respectively, hire them for the job. One of the top jobs will be the mayoral seat in Weir. As of now, no one has qualified to run in the special election that is set for Tuesday, January 7.
But, those who may be thinking of qualifying can still do so on January 2, to run for a four-year term.
Qualifying for the 2025 Municipal Elections will begin on Thursday, January 2, and ends on January 31.
Primary elections, if there is a need for a primary, will be on April 1 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at each of the respective municipal polling places. The general election will take place on June 3, 2025 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Those who are “hired” – who win the municipal general elections – will be sworn in and take office on July 1, 2025.
