At least two more people filed their candidacies for Webster County chancery clerk over the past week in the 2023 elections.
Three people were in the running for chancery clerk as of press deadline Tuesday, none of whom included incumbent Russ Turner.
Joining previously reported Democratic qualifier Regina Dean Reed are two Republican candidates: Ken Norwood and Michael Kolb.
The qualifying period ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Two supervisors seeking re-election had one challenger each as of Tuesday, all running as Republicans.
District 3 candidates as of then were Jason Burney and incumbent Randy “Poochie” Rico. Field Johnson is now a candidate in District 4, along with incumbent Paul Crowley.
Other new qualifiers are the incumbents on the county Election Commission whose districts are on the ballot this year: District 2’s Stephanie Langston and District 4’s Cathy Chandler, both running as Independents. The election of election commissioners has changed to a staggered schedule rather than electing them all in the same year.
Party primaries will be Aug. 8 with runoffs on Aug. 29, if necessary, and the general election is Nov. 7.
