Does anyone know about those spicy cookies with pink frosting called Uncle Al’s STAGE PLANKS? Can’t figger the name out…maybe because the cookies are brownish, painted pink like a deck, are 2 to a pack, and are about 2”x4” therefore 2 two by fours? Who knows?
Anyway, so much still going on in our world, close by and far away. So much prayer needed!
Isn’t it perfect spring weather though? I mean rain, cool, hot, sunny…I love it as I’ve mentioned. Yesterday I took a walk and the bright red clover popped out everywhere as did the lusciousness of many bushes, like the snowballs (see pic) and the crepe myrtle leaves pushing up out of those bare (recently covered with ice) knobby stumps.
Now tomorrow is EARTH DAY and fits nicely into our consideration of the beauty of nature. It began in 1970 and now is celebrated by over 1B people in 193 countries. The idea is to learn something new about how to protect our environment. Someone asked me what ‘environmental racism’ was. Well, if you look around you might find an example…frequently the worst housing in a city is nearest to where waste is dumped or stored. Who lives there? World-wide we see people actually living on dumps, making their living by rummaging through and looking for food. Who lives there? Another example might be to be tucked back near swampy unhealthy backwaters with sinister wildlife. Who lives there? What does your environment look like? Is it safe or death-dealing? Is the water healthy? Is there toxic waste about? If others are living like this…what might I do?
I found this in my notes, from Barbara Johnson, 1990,WORD Publishing:
“…we are diamonds in the rough? I believe we are much more like opals, made from desert dust, sand, and silica and owes its beauty not to perfection but to defect! The opal is a stone with a broken heart, full of minute fissures that allow air inside, refracting the light...called the ‘lamp of fire’ with lovely hues. An opal will lose it’s luster in cold, dark places but the luster is restored when held in a warm hand and when light shines upon it.”
Let your light shine!
EASTER BLESSINGS.
