At 5:34 a.m., on Thursday, January 14, Louisville-Winston E-911 received a call concerning a traffic accident at the intersection of Hwy. 15 South and Smyth Lake Rd. The responding Louisville Police officer arrived on the scene at 5:38 a.m. and discovered a two-vehicle collision.
A Ford pickup truck, driven by Michael Scott Burnham, was traveling south on Hwy. 15, when a car, driven by Johnny Dewayne Longino, and traveling east on Smyth Lake Rd. pulled out in front of Burnham. Burnham’s vehicle collided with the car driven by Longino, and came to rest off the roadway, on the opposite side of the highway.
Life Care EMS responded to the scene, however Burnham was transported to Winston Medical Center by private vehicle. Longino was pronounced deceased at the scene, and was transported by Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.
