Betty Prisock Rives

Betty Prisock Rives, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at her home in Ackerman, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4 in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Reverend Jerry Lawson officiating. Visitation was the day of the service at Massey Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment immediately followed the service in BethEden Cemetery in Louisville.
Betty was born November 2, 1941, to James “Dadie” and Elsie Holley Prisock in Louisville. She was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Ackerman. Betty served as the bookkeeper for her family’s business for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family; especially as she eagerly anticipated visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers; as well as feeding and watching the birds. As a breast cancer survivor, she faced her journey with perseverance and grace.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Pat Rives Upton (Marshall) of Weir, Mississippi; and Gwen Rives Blaine of Starkville, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “MawMaw” to her grandchildren: Carl Upton, III (April), Cameron Upton (Chandler), Jan Blaine (Elizabeth), Alanna Scholtes (Beck), and Clark Blaine (Sarah); and to her 12 great-grandchildren: Necee Wilson, Alexis Wilson, Jazzlyn Shelley, Knox Blaine, Beau Blaine, Charlotte Blaine, Laurel Blaine, Coleman Scholtes, Fisher Scholtes, Gracie Scholtes, Holt Blaine, and Collins Upton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Rives; her parents; three brothers, Elvis Prisock, Hunter Prisock, and Kim Prisock; and two sisters, Jean Dempsey and Harriett Nelson.
Serving as pallbearers are Jan Blaine, Beck Scholtes, Clark Blaine, Carl Upton, III, Cameron Upton, and Randy Chandler. Memorials in honor of Betty may be given to BethEden Cemetery Fund, c/o Shirley Livingston, 40 Livingston Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
