William Steve Watkins, 43, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at his residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date at Camp Ground Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi, with Rev. Jon White and Bro. Charles Rook officiating.
Steve was born December 5, 1976, to Sandra Garrard Watkins Stanley and Rickey Watkins in Winston County, Mississippi. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Steve also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Steve is survived by his children: Chelsie MiCayla Copeland of Louisville, Mississippi, Candi Paige Carter of Noxapater, Joshua Steve (Kayla) Watkins, and Esmee Marie Watkins all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his five grandchildren: Elizabeth Copeland, Aurora Copeland, Anna Copeland, Jaythen Higginbotham, and Stella Higginbotham. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing his mother Sandra Stanley and husband Archie of Louisville, his father Rickey Watkins of Noxapater, and his sister Laurie Watkins White of Louisville; as well as his loving niece Jessica Jewell and nephew Jon (Kathryn) White and their families. Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hut and Stella Watkins in addition to his maternal grandparents Cleveland and Lucille Garrard.
Serving as pallbearers are Josh Watkins, Ben Clark, William Fulton, Jonathan Hall, Brian Garrard, Michael Stanley, Chris Stevenson, Danny Sullivan, and Keith Tucker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Steve be given to Nowell-Massey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of the service.
