Mary Catherine McCrory, age 61, passed away at her home in Eupora, Mississippi on December 12, 2021. She was born on November 14, 1960 to Josephine McCrory and the late Freddy Lavern McCrory.
Catherine graduated from Eupora High School in 1976. Following graduation, she attended Mississippi State University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1982. She began teaching and coaching at Durant High School in 1996. In July of 1999 she was awarded the Distinguished Coaching Award for her dedication and contribution to Durant High School and in May of 2002 she was awarded the M.A.C. 1A Coach of the Year award for the girls basketball team at Durant High School.
Following her awards, she led the Durant Lady Tigers to win the 2001-02 State Championship. Catherine was a lifetime resident of Mississippi and was a member of Tomnolen Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Josephine McCrory of Tomnolen, Mississippi; two sisters, Karen (David) Canterbury of Tomnolen, Mississippi and Judy (Hal) Fowler of Duck Hill, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Freddy Lavern McCrory and one brother, Freddy Lee McCrory.
A memorial service for Catherine McCrory will be held at a later date.
She will be buried by her brother at Greensboro Cemetery in Tomnolen, Mississippi.
