William Lance Greer passed away Wednes¬day, January 18, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. His memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Oxford-University United Methodist Church, with Reverends Chris McAlilly, Warren Black, and Wes Ingram offi¬ciating. Prior to the service, visitation and re-freshments began at 12:30 pm.
Lance was born October 23, 1940, at the family home in Louisville to the late Henry and Thelma Greer. A graduate of Louisville High School and Mississippi State University, Lance’s career with IBM and Lockheed Martin in Mechanical Engineering took him to Geor¬gia, California, New York, Maryland, and Vir¬ginia.
In addition to traveling throughout the con¬tinental United States and Canada, he enjoyed the British Isles, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Peru, and Mexico. His 40 years in Virginia in¬cluded service projects with the Nokesville United Methodist Church and the Nokesville Ruritans, as well as projects supporting his daughter’s school and sports program. Retire¬ment in Oxford included the Oxford Newcom¬ers Club, support for O-U’s Habitat for Humanity Projects, the Oxford Food Pantry, and Empty Bowls. He enjoyed golfing, wood¬working, electrical projects, and gestures of kindness to neighbors.
Preceded in death by his sisters Rosemary and Peggy, Lance is survived by his wife, Reba, his daughter Smith, and his grandson, Greer.
