Dot Holland, 74, of Oktibbeha County, Mississippi,
completed her earthly journey on December
27, 2021. Dot was preceded in death by
her beloved husband, Joe Billy Holland; infant
daughter Samantha Ann Holland; and parents
Helen Louzell Bell and W. H. Oswalt. She is
survived by son David Holland (fiancee Britanna
Funka) of Lake Charles, Louisiana;
brothers Douglas Oswalt (Lesa) and Larry Oswalt
of Maben, Mississippi; sister Diane Boon
of Blacksburg, Virginia; uncle Jimmy Bell
(Peggy) of Sturgis, MS, and several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Dot enjoyed a long career in customer service
at Walmart and B-Quik Companies in
Starkville. She loved sharing worship and activities
with her church family at Crossroads
Baptist Church of Choctaw County. Known to
her friends as “Miss Dot” or “Mama Dot”, she
was kind and generous to everyone she encountered
and her friendly outgoing manner and
magnetic personality drew countless friends
from all walks of life.
After her mother died at a young age, Dot became
the sun around which the rest of the family
revolved. She and Bill provided Sunday
dinners and Holiday celebrations for us for so
many years. We will never forget her love and
generosity of spirit.
