Funeral services for Mr. Ervin Jr. Kirkwood, 67, were held on March 1 at 11am at Millspring Mount Baptist Church of Weir. Rev. Benjamin Lewis officiated. Burial held at Weir Chapel cemetery.
Native of Weir MS, Mr. Kirkwood was born in 1958. He died on February 4, 2025 at his home in Pheba, MS.
Survivors include sisters, Irine Kind and Mary Smith; brothers, Marvin Jr. Kirkwood and O. D. Kirkwood; and a host of family and friends.

Stanley Frank Phillips

Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Frank Phillips, 92 were held on February 22 at 10AM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. David Shivers officiated. Burial was held at Fentress Baptist Church Cemetery near Ackerman.
Mr. Phillips was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and Fentress Baptist Church for 57 years. He was a veteran, and he also retired from GM&O Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Maxine Phillips of Fentress; daughters, Debbie Jones of Brandon and Teresa Nowell of Stewart; son, Frank Phillips of Brandon; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

Hazel Boyd Starnes

A Memorial Funeral Service for Hazel Boyd Starnes, 82, will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley with Rev. Mike Sanders officiating. A Memorial Visitation Services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley, MS on Saturday, March 22, 2025 an hour prior to service.
A native of Sturgis, Mr. Starnes passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. Hazel was born in 1942. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War and a Union Painter in Rhode Island.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Boyd Starnes of Cumberland, RI and Joseph Boyd Starnes of Danbury, CT; daughters, Margaret Mary Stansfield of Blackstone, MA, Julia Mary Vanover of Columbus and Hesper Starnes of Sturgis; his brother, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Mary-Beth Wood of Woonsocket, RI and his former wife, Martha Starnes of Starkville.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Oktibbeha County Humane Society.
