Funeral services for Carlton Shelby Rowlen, 87, were held on Monday January 20, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Mathiston First Baptist Church. Interment followed the funeral service at Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston. Visitation was held two hours prior to the funeral service.
A native of Tunica, Mr. Rowlen was born in 1937 and died on January 17, 2025 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo.
Mr. Rowlen is survived by his wife Bonnie and his son Gregg both of Mathiston; step-son Barkley Neal of Boyle, two granddaughters, three great grandchildren; a sister, and two brothers
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Carlton to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, Sanctuary Hospice House 5159 West Main Street Tupelo, MS 38801, and/or Mathiston First Baptist Church 24901 MS Highway 15 Mathiston, MS 39752.

Graveside services for Mr. Jimmy Ellington, 90, of Oakland, MS, will be held on Saturday, January 25 at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Choctaw County at 11:00 am. Mr. Ellington died on December 28, 2024.
Survivors include his wife, Martha; son, Jon M. Ellington; daughter, Janine Ellington; sister, Marjie Williams; brother, Billy Ellington; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Mt. Airy Cemetery or Idaho Humane Society.
Charles W. “Birddog” Edwards

Funeral services for Charles W. “Birddog” Edwards were held at Ackerman Church of God on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Kelvin Copeland and Rev. Brian Wells officiating. Burial followed at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, as well as one hour prior to service time from 1 p.m. until service began.
Mr. Edwards was born in 1952 and died on January 12, 2025.
He is survived by his three sons, Danny Edwards of Caledonia, Charles Michael Edwards and Jacob Edwards both of Ackerman; his three daughters, Renea Haimes, Carolyn Edwards and Priscilla Huffman all of Ackerman; and one sister, Cherrie Salley. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Ackerman Church of God.
