A memorial service for Janet Birdsong Edwards, 72, of Eupora will be held at a later date. She was born July 30, 1952, in McCarley to the late Oscar and Sybel Lee Birdsong. Mrs. Edwards was a cook. She died Aug. 30, 2024, at Diversicare of Eupora. Survivors include her husband, Jack E. Edwards of Eupora; one daughter, Jackie Martinez of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one son, John Hill of Indianola; two sisters, Shirley Leach of McCarley and Gail Birdsong, McCarley; three brothers, Anthony Birdsong of McCarley, Joel D. Birdsong of Jackson and Red Birdsong of Greenville; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of arrangements.
Howard Eugene ‘Gene’ McMillian Aug. 28, 2024
Services for Howard Eugene “Gene” McMillian, 70, of Maben were Aug. 31, 2024, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with the Revs. Danny Woods and Mike Ramage officiating. Interment followed at Clear Springs Cemetery in Oktibbeha County. He was born in Cleveland on Aug. 18, 1954, to the late Howard Powell and Catherine Clemons McMillian. Mr. McMillian retired after 20 years at Gulf States in Starkville and then retired from delivering propane after 20 years. He died Aug. 28, 2024. Survivors include his wife, Ann McMillian; three daughters, Cindy Robertson of DeKalb, Amanda Gilliland of Eupora and Heather Harmon of Houston; six grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Pallbearers were Josh Edwards, Michael Gilliland, Hunter Johnson, Scott McBride, Justin Pritchard and Justin Robertson.
