Services for Barbara James, 83, were July 29, 2024, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with Pastor Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial was at Double Springs Methodist Cemetery in Maben. She was born May 5, 1941, in Maben to the late Willie and Lizette Love. Mrs. James was a social worker at Choctaw County Department of Human Services before finishing her career working at Golden Triangle Planning and Development District. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Winston County. Mrs. James died August 2, 2024, at her home in Sturgis. Survivors include her husband, Leland James; her children, Tina Tullos Goodin, Tracey Tullos, Mary Harrison and Annice Hill; her sister, Iris Farley; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Garrett Harrison, Chad Anderson, Dalton Anderson, Mack Fondren, Paul Pearson and Alex May. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church.

Private services have been held for Larry D. Kemp, 73, of Eupora. Mr. Kemp died July 19, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Montgomery Mortuary of Houston was in charge of arrangements.
