The Winston Forestry Association (WFA) ended its 2019 educational programming on December 5th with Mr. Marc Measells giving members an outlook on forest industry prospects within the Winston County market area. Also, a holistic view of the timber industry in the state of Mississippi, and the southeast region.
Updates like this proves to be valuable information for timber producers within Winston and surrounding counties so management goals can be made with the latest information available to landowners. County Forestry Associations throughout Mississippi have a long and proven track record of assisting landowners through monthly meetings, woodland tours, and educational short courses that offer CEU credits to whomever may need these credit hours.
As with other County Associations, the Winston Forestry Association operates through the direction of a grassroots Board of Directors. The 2020 Board of Directors was announced at the December 5th meeting, and will soon be working with the local MSU Extension office to set the educational direction by deciding objectives for the coming years WFA goals to be reached.
On behalf of MSU Extension in Winston County, I’d like to congratulate the WFA Board members for 2020, and look forward to working toward Winston’s Forestry success together. If you’re interested in joining the Winston Forestry Association you can contact your local Extension office. For Winston landowners the number is 662-773-3091.
