The Winston County Library’s annual summer reading program will take place throughout the month of June and include an exciting lineup of programs in accordance with its theme “Libraries Rock.”
“It’s easy to participate in the summer reading program, and it’s for everyone,” said Winston County Librarian Beth Edwards.
There will be three separate age group categories, and registrationstarted on Wednesday, May 23.
The Tiny Tots program for ages 3-5 year olds will take place on Monday’s from 9:30-10:30 A.M.
The children’s program for grades 1st-5th will be held on Tuesday’s at 2:00 P.M. and the programs include a Traveling Petting Zoo (with a camel!), Snakeman Terry Vandeventer, and the Delta Blues Museum.
The teen program for grades 6th-12th grade will be on Monday’s from 2:00-3:00, and their programs will include Delta Blues Museum, Country Music Band Robert Burchfield, and a Board Game and Photography Day.
In addition, both the children and teen programs will have an Awards and Water Day on June 26th.
Out of town guests are welcome and children do not have to be registered to attend any of the programs; however, registration is required to be eligible for any reading awards, including the grand prize of a $50 Wal-Mart gift certificate.
Children are encouraged to get a library card prior to the start of the programs on June 4th and to take advantage of this exciting opportunity.
