On April 19, the construction cost estimate amount for The Cross of Christ was reached.
Mike Rozier Construction Co. Inc. (company that constructed both Batesville and Winona crosses) was informed that we were ready to begin the process of construction of The Cross of Christ roadside cross to give God honor and glory.
The construction company began getting quotes to obtain the best price. As of May 2, the steel price was agreed upon and was ordered with a two- to six-week delivery date. The steel that has been ordered is the internal steel and base pipe
These are basic facts about The Cross of Christ:
• The Cross of Christ will be 12 stories high and will measure 120 by 64 feet.
• The base pipe is 66 inches in diameter and 36 feet and 6 inches in length.
• The thickness of the base pipe is one-half inch and weighs approximately 26,000 pounds.
• The footing for the base is 16 feet by 16 feet and 17 feet deep, which will take 160 yards of concrete.
• Once the base pipe is installed, then the assembly of the remaining parts of the cross will be made on the ground.
• The assembling of the cross will take seven-nine days and after the cross is lifted then two weeks will be needed for completion.
The estimated completion of The Cross of Christ is by the end of July. We know that God’s timing is perfect so we will pray and anticipate the day that our Lord has planned for The Cross of Christ materials to be in, construction to begin; and the day we can all celebrate the completed cross and Give GOD All the Glory!
Even though the initial construction cost estimate has been raised, gifts are still encouraged though memorials, honorariums and donations. Thank you for your continuous support.
The cost of the construction is only an estimate and does not include benches, security cameras, landscaping, insurance, solar lighting source and other costs that support the project.
Once the project is complete, a monthly budget will be established and made public. The Cross of Christ will have a perpetual fund available for donations to ensure the cross will stand for years to come and be provided with funds to support it.
Please pray that God is honored every step of the way and that Christians will be reminded of the greatest gift of all – salvation through the cross. Also, we pray that unbelievers will see HOPE in the cross and be drawn to know and receive Christ.
