(Louisville, Mississippi) The Taylor Group of Companies is proud to announce the appointment of Phil Sprio to the Taylor Senior Staff Group. Phil has spent the last two years leading the charge for Taylor Defense Products. He and his team have done an outstanding job of creating a full manufacturing organization with the ability to provide new Taylor products to government and defense and remanufacture critical systems in need of improvement for the U.S. Military and its allies. “We are so proud of Phil and what he has brought to the table with his knowledge of manufacturing and vision for Taylor's relationship with our armed forces,” said Robert Taylor Chief Operating Officer for The Taylor Group of Companies.
A graduate of Wake Forest University and Albany Law School, Sprio began his career in the public sector and held several positions including Chief Counsel to the Leader of the New York State Assembly as well as Deputy Attorney General in the New York State Law Department. He then entered the private sector as founder and Principal of Rappleyea Public Affairs, a boutique public affairs and lobbying firm, before serving as Senior VP for Kalmar RT Center, a division of Cargotec. Prior to joining Taylor, Sprio served as President and CEO of three North Carolina based companies all serving markets in aerial and material handling, commercial manufacturing, government and defense. Sprio has a history of building and advising startups, turnaround of distressed companies, and manufacturing and growth experience coupled with success in the defense industry.
In June of 2019, under the direction of Sprio, Taylor Defense Products was awarded a ten-year contract to repair and maintain all-terrain cranes for the US Marine Corps. This long-term contract was part of the US Navy’s Service Life Extension Program and is being performed in Louisville, Mississippi.
